Census Director Robert Groves claims every 1% of taxpayers who respond to the census survey saves $85 million in government spending. But is it really necessary to send advance letters and follow-up reminders? Not to mention the barrage of ads. And why, pray tell, is there not an online census survey? Seems like an obvious way to save money and trees!

Hey I'm just glad I didn't get one of the 'Long Version' Census forms. Of course, as it stands, Andrew and I are unmarried partners....though I'm pretty sure I can change that in Massachusetts.
I got my form maybe 2 weeks ago and the official directions (http://2010.census.gov/partners/pdf/ConstituentFAQ.pdf) say to send the census back as soon as possible. I'm pretty sure, though, that the questions were about the people living at the house as of April 1st, 2010. Good thing Dionne Warrick is on my speed dial.
While you have Dionne on the phone, would you please inquire about my future career? That way I would finally know what I'm working towards.
Lucky for Andrew, Massachusetts doesn't recognize a common law marriage. Otherwise, I'd fight him to get you back :)
