First day of my Kauai 'work' trip. Such a great start to the day.  Made some coffee, watched the sun rise, and went for a run along the water.  Really, this is how work trips should start.

Nice Sunrise to Start the Day.

Eventually went into this small village near where our condo was located to grab some lunch and stock up on some food for our place.  We found out that there was a farmer's market happening on Mondays at noon, as luck would have it, the exact time we were bumming around the village.   We had quite the haul of fruits and vegetables...

Our Haul from the Farmer's Market.  Bok Choi, Cucumber, Radishes, Arugula, Grapefruit, Tangerines, Apple Bananas (not a typo), Avocados, Kumquats, Mangoes, and some Rambutan

One of those wonderfule fruits of the tropics that you never find anywhere else is the rambutan.  Kind of a cousin of the lychee.  Actually, not sure I could tell the difference between the two.  I seem to describe them as what a lychee would be if it forgot to shave for a few days.  Or maybe as the wiki experts put it.

The Rambutan

After a quick 20 oz Kirin Ichiban, we headed out to Brennecke Beach to catch some sun and surf.  Pretty nice breakers right at the beach for some body surfing/boogie boarding.  First went for a little swim with a snorkel mask and came upon two fairly large sea turtles followed by a baby.  Seemed fairly indifferent to my presence and were much more graceful in the water than they appear.  Actually, they were far more graceful then my splashing around trying to hold position about them.  Anyways, caught a few waves on the way back in and grabbed some drinks at the bar to finish the afternoon.

Pretty Sure Amy took the brunt of this wave after the photo.
